Plenty on offer at Irish Open
BY BRENDAN McCARTHY

DETAILS have been announced of the attractions that will be in place in the tented village at the 3 Irish Open which tees off at Killarney Golf and Fishing Club this Thursday.

There will be something to cater for all ages and tastes at the prestigious tournament over the bank holiday weekend.

For children, there will be a 3 Irish Kids Zone to keep all junior golf fans entertained. The fun zone will feature giant slides, zorbing, a bouncy castle, a climbing wall and for those who dare, an extreme trampoline.

The 3 Irish Open Kids zone will cost ¤2 for a children’s day pass with ¤1 of the admission price going to the 3 Irish Open’s chosen charity, the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

While there will be plenty of on-course action at the tournament, there will also be more than enough activities to keep fans entertained in the downtime at the tented village.

The ProVision Interactive Golf Zone is a must-see for all golf fans, while official tournament partner, Heineken, will have their sports bar open for the event.

Music lovers will also be well catered for with the Live 3 Irish Open stage set for musical performances at 1pm, 3.30pm and 6pm every day. For those who like their technology cutting edge, a visit to the 3 Store or the Samsung interactive zone where all the latest gadgets will be on show is a must.

Foodies will also be catered for with no lack of options. Along with the 3 Clubhouse that will serve food all day, there will be the 3 Irish Open food court which will add an international feel to match one of Europe’s top golf events. There will be a tapas and wine bar, along with gourmet sausages and gourmet burger bars and a noodle bar.

To top it all off, a genuine hog roast will be held in the food court, while Bewley’s will have a sit and sip café.

Commenting on the on-course entertainment, Elaine Carey, Sales and Marketing Director of 3 said: "We at 3 see the Irish Open as more than just a sports event for sports fans. The 3 Irish Open will have something for everyone to enjoy.

"This is going to be a fantastic week of events and entertainment in Killarney and the 3 Irish Open Tented Village is going to be the epicentre of all the fun for the event.

"Whether you like music or food, or want to catch up with what’s going on on the course, then you can do that in the tented village.

"There is also the 3 Irish Open Kids Zone, which will keep all the children entertained for the day. It also gives us a chance to give something back to our chosen charity, the Make-A-Wish Foundation, as half of the entry fee for the kids zone will go to Make-A-Wish. As promised, this year’s 3 Irish Open is going to be bigger and better," Elaine Carey said.
