Logical idea

I HAVE read the article submitted to The Soapbox section of The Kingdom by Mr Noel O’Neill and it gives me food for thought.

The idea of unification of people with disabilities is logical and it can be achieved if people with disabilities are to move forward together under one flag.

It is time for change and to design a coherent system which meets and supports people with disabilities.

The Kingdom article has my thoughts running at a thousand miles an hour in an attempt to find ways for people with disabilities who want to work. Many disabled people would like to work but face prejudice in the recruitment process and unwillingness from employers to make the adjustments which are (legally) required to make work possible.

One major barrier is access to all buildings so as to facillate employment for those who want to work and have equal opportunity to do so.

I am sure also that there are people who are physically incapable of work and for those people I have genuine sympathy. The cutbacks on benefits in relation to people with disabilities and those who are marginalized is another condemnation by government of citizens who are supposed to be equal in society.

Mr Noel O’Neill has his finger on the button, only to push it. That would implement fundamental changes in our society on behalf of those who need it most.
